Geeezzz . . . why would there be fireworks going on tonite? Anyone know? In the last 15 minutes, several booms startled us and sent all the dogs in the neighborhood into a barking frenzy. It sounded like shotguns at first. Then a helicopter flew over our neighborhood. After that, it was continuous off and on for several minutes. We assumed it had to be fireworks.

The first several booms . . . very nerve-wracking.

So anyone know why someone would be shooting off fireworks tonite? Usually we can see fireworks from the Country Club but we never saw anything - just a lot of noise.

I believe there are fireworks after (most) Saturday home games for the Charlotte Knights.
They did play home Saturday.

HA HA HA! Well, this stuff sounded so darn close. At first, we thought someone had fired a shotgun several times, so that was kind of disconcerting. It was so loud it echoed in our neighborhood (we have lots of hills - so sound does seem to reverberate).

We have never heard anything from Carowinds before so I don't know if that could be it . . . we are right off Carmel Road.

I am gonna notice if I hear it again this coming Saturday. Heaven knows - I hate to have that to look forward to every Sat after 10 pm, LOL.

Maybe that is closer than I perceive, but we have never heard it before like this, even on July 4th. I will have to look at a map.

I live on Quail Hollow Road and was wondering about the fireworks, too. They lasted about 15 minutes and seemed to be in my backyard!!! I was wondering if they were coming from around the Quail Hollow Country Club?

Okay - we are not far apart then. YES - this stuff was really loud, moreso than it has ever been even on Jul 4th or New Year's. We wondered if it could have been over at Carmel CC but Quail Hollow would make sense, too, cause sound really does travel in this neighborhood - very hard to tell where people are located when you hear someone calling kids or for their pets.

I honestly felt it was not outside 51. I felt like it was more likely north of us but again - sound is hard to pin point back in these hills, LOL!!!

It was definately at Quail Hallow CC last night. I live right over the creek from the Quail Hallow course and I could see the fireworks from my front porch! They were WAY louder than the one that go off occasionally at Carmel Country club...and I live about 100 yards from CCC. I am guessing someone important tied the knot last night!

Bless you, ISP! That totally makes sense! Cause this was just not what we are used to hearing.

And you are probably right - a wedding reception.

Thank you so much for sharing the info! Musta been a really nice wedding reception!
