The job should be the deciding factor here. But I previously lived in York County, so I'm partial to Fort Mill.

Mooresville 100 %
Mooresville,Mooresville,Mooresville.
I am from Rock Hill just south of Fort Mill and have worked and spent a good bit of time in Fort Mill. I now live in Mooresvillle and it is so much nicer here than there. We have more as far as shopping goes. A better community And more places to work. Fort Mill may be a little closer to downtown Charlotte but the traffic is worse coing for the south than from the north.

You might also probably want to consider college. We didn't even consider SC because our daughter had a program picked out that she could only get at UNCG. I have no idea what the cost of SC universities are but NC universities seem to be a terrific value for a resident compaired with schools in the north.

NO! Not what I was saying at all. Just trying to clarify the questions and let the OP know there were different school systems in play with her original question. Mooresville vs Iredell County, 6 of one, half dozen of the other as far as I'm concerned. I will say based on past experience that Mooresville is a smaller system. Sometimes a smaller system allows better administration of programs. Sometimes the larger system allows for more variety. It really depends on what you are looking for, both in housing parameters and educational needs.

Mooresville...but you should look on the east side of town. It's more laid back & quieter than over by Brawley School Rd. Less traffic, too. More options to get to Charlotte via back roads if need be. You're close to all the shopping on the other side of town but don't have to deal with that traffic on a daily basis. Concord Mills Mall is about a 20-25 min ride, more shopping there. Some very nice subdivisions on the east side, too. You'd be in the MGSD, which is a better school district. Take a look at the east side of town before you decide.

I live in a very nice neighborhood in Fort Mill and we love it. I work in Mooresville several times a month and cannot handle the traffic. They are both really nice areas. I do feel there is so much more within a 20 minute ride plus the fact that it is cheaper in taxes. There is also little things that creep up that are also cheaper that you never think of in SC. We have also used the light rail for Panthers & Bobcats games and that has been pretty cool and a time saver. Light Rail does not go to Fort Mill but you can be at the SB stop within 20 minutes. Good Luck in your move!

We live in Mooresville on Brawley and hate the traffic and lack of infrastructure, no parks or bike paths or playgrounds. NOt alot to do expcept the lake and shopping. The schools are great on paper, but my experience with the elementary is teaching to the test. We are looking to relocate.

Thank you so much for clarifying that! I agree w/ all your points - and you are right - it really does depend on what someone's criteria are for determining "what is best."
