does anyone know if it is possible to buy lots in existing communities? I would like to purchas alot but not build for a couple of years. any websites or webpages that can be pointed out would be apprecaited. thanks
It is possible. All the good lots seem to get snagged up by builders who build homes on them and resell them. The leftovers are still decent lots, but not exactly "prime."

Is it generally accepted that one can purchase a lot but not build for 2 years? Would there be pressure from the HOA (or ?) to build? I'm picturing one empty lot in the midst of built homes and neighbors walking their dog by the lot every day and muttering in contempt. Allowing their dog to foul on the lot.
There are lots throughout Charlotte in new and old developments. The area inside the beltway ,77 and 85 also have a great number of lots available. If fact many of the gray areas are being torn down creating lots. There are lots near Myers Park were houses have been torn down and builders are trying to dump them now. Pick an area they are here.
In looking for land I have seen a lot of lots for sale, in subdivisions and out. I don't know if you could let it sit for a few years or not like another poster stated. I went to www.realtor.com (broken link) and do the search, you can put in how much acreage you want, where you are lookig to buy, what kind of view you want, cul de sac, etc, mountain view, waterview. You just go there and on your search you unclick the home options and click on land, then click on more options and go from there...
