Question School buses

My family will be moving to an area close to Uptown late this summer and plan to get by w/o a car for the 1st few months. One of my concerns is about the schools and how close they may or may not be to my future home. I have looked at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools website, and notice they have a special section in reference to school bus transportation. Is there anyone on the board who can tell me how it is set up. Do all the kids get transported to and from school via school bus, or is school bus service reserved only for children w/ special needs?

Bus transportation is provided as long as you attend the school assigned to the neighborhood you live in, or to whichever magnet program your child might get accepted to - no matter where in the city it is. The only time transportation is not provided is when a parent requests a transfer to another school besides the one the child is assigned to.
