Coming to check-out Charlotte in mid-April. Looking for advice on Hotels. Are there any cool, hip, modern type hotels? For instance, we are coming from DC, and here we have the Kimpton line of Hotels which are modern type boutique hotels. Any advice on other nice hotels would be appreciated. We prefer to be downtown where we can walk-around, eat, drink, go to a few bars, etc. Thx

Based on what you are looking for, your only real choice is the Westin.

This is a business city, and most hotels cater to the business class.

Possibly the Blake Hotel. Its in the Southwest corner of the city in the former Adams Mark building. I seem to recall when they announced they were coming to Charlotte it would be what you are looking for. They are on the web, the lobby looks modern but the room looks like any hotel room. There is also a small hotel on Tryon Street in an old building called the Dunhill Hotel.
