You should try other companies. I have never had any trouble looking at places and going ahead with the application process even though I have no job. I also told them that I would be willing to pay in full for the lease term. I think they let it slide a little more if you pull up with out of state plates and an out of state drivers license. I am also thinking of going to the Fresno California area possibly by July and the unemployment rate in Fresno is 18% soo I wonder if it will be as easy to find a place to stay out there? Also you may want to try craigslist if your looking for a place, I usually see alot of postings there.

Be careful of the Craigslist postings - we had a scam uncovered recently where people saw pics of a house they thought they were renting only to arrive and find the real owners living there.

Thats one of my biggest fears of craigslist. I guess its soo easy just to show up at a house and pay the so called homeowner say 800 dollars a month to rent it only to find out it was all a scam.

We found our house on Craigslist. Actually, we put an ad on as to what we were looking for and they found us. You may try it that way.

You should have no problem finding a home you want just by driving through neighborhood or searching craigslist or rentals.com. We found both our homes on there through individual owners, not mgmt companies.
Every subd I drive through has "For rent" signs. Offer to pay 3 months upfront, I can't imagine anyone turning down an offer from someone with cash.

I totally agree with "Cagman"....there are a lot of choices in any neighborhood that you ride through. I feel more than sure that this would be a good route to take. As with anything, just make sure you get everything in writing, so there won't be any misunderstandings. There might even be some areas to avoid in Concord, which I feel someone here on line could let you know about. Since there are quite a number of homes for sale, you might even luck up on someone who might be willing to rent...you never know until you ask. Good Luck with your relocation.
