Quail Hollow Golf (Wachovia) "Mulligan" Program
Ok, here's the deal. Funds are tight this year, however every year, the Wachovia has what they call a "mulligan" program. Basically what that is, is people give back their used tickets to the program, and you can purchase those "used" tickets for a reduced rate in the afternoon usually....its a good thing since you get to see alot of golf at reduced rates.
I called the QH # today and they said they weren't doing it this year. I asked the girl why, and she said she didn't know.
Ya know, Kym Huffman (QH director) is constantly on WBT saying how they are trying more than ever this year to give back to their fans. Its really funny they say that and in the worst economic times in my lifetime, they can't even throw the general public a bone and offer reduced rate tickets like they've always done...
Tickets for the weekend are expensive. If you include food and drinks you're looking at prices that would be on par for a MLB game.
I understand the PGA is a business and wants to make as much money as possible, but cmon. How about throwing the common folk a bone?
Just another sign of the times how professional sports constantly is going in the direction of big business.......

tough times for everyone I guess.....you can always try walking onto the course with your golf bag, they may think you're a pro and not even question you....heck you may even get asked for an autograph!

I e-mailed the director of tickets last week. He said they only did it in the past because tickets sold out in advance. Since only Saturday tickets actually sold out this year, they were not doing it. I see their point. Why let someone get a ticket for $10 when there are still full price tickets for sale. Actually, here is the e-mail I received:
[SIZE=2]Christopher,
The Mulligan Ticket Program was created to provide an opportunity when we were sold out several weeks in advance. While that did occur the past six years, we do not forsee a complete sellout for 2009 at this time. Therefore, the Mulligan Program will not be initiated this year. We certainly will re-visit the program next year.
Thank you for your note. Most of all, thanks for your support as we continue to try and raise money for worthy charitable causes.

ok fine, but again, don't have Kym Huffman on the radio trying to say we're trying to help out local patrons because that's bs.
IMO they made a mistake this year for a couple of reasons..
They should've either lowered ticket prices to guarantee sell outs or IMO still offer the buyback program. You still make a ton of money w/the mulligan program because the people that show up buy the overpriced refreshments which increase your profit margin. If you don't get those people to come, no refreshments.....
Also, Your gonna have a packed crowd on Sunday w/Tiger...ok instead of 8 deep you might have 6 deep crowds watching Tiger.
I understand its about making as much money as possible, just don't tell me on the radio that you "care" about local citizens like Kym said a couple weeks ago on the radio.

they aren't selling tickets anymore, so the fact that they aren't doing the Mulligan program simply b/c it didn't sell out doesn't make a bit of sense. it would actually make more sense for them to continue the program to make some extra money off of people who wouldn't be going at regular price!

agreed. We have gone each of the last 4 years and decided not to go this year. I would probably go if I could get a discounted ticket.
