Chores for children was strictly limited by the NC legislature a few years ago.. And you better watch out cause they do check. You can go to jail.

I hope you seriously don't care what other kids are doing. You are showing your kids responsibility. The fact that there are few parents who do that anymore is why kids have so many problems! So carry on!

So funny, better get the orange jump suit ready... kids can't learn to be proper adults , IMO , unless you teach them respect, manners, and responsibility from the get go... I like orange, it goes good w my skin tone...

I have to agree. So many teenagers today don't have a care in the world with regards to responsibility and even more frustrating is that they have everything handed to them. Another forum I was on talked about kids at 8 years old having cell phones - good grief. I can't imagine that making my kids throw out the trash, clean their rooms and vacuum is considered criminal behavior on my part. I actually thought I was contributing to society, a responsible adult that knew how to take care of himself/herself.

You know, really I don't, I just dont want the kids , I dont know what I want. My son is outside right now cutting the grass. The kids across the street dont do anything...their father works all day and comes home and cuts grass in the dark. My kids know responsibility, do they always like it? Probably not. They also know respect. I think they like that, because they are complimented on their behavior. I just know there are alot of kids around here who dont lift the first finger and I dont know once again. I do know that they are very disrespectful to their parents and expect everything from them. They know nothing of responsibility. Carrying on...

My kids say that I'm the "meanest mom" for expecting certain things to be done ... looks like I'm in good company

good company indeed...the kids dont complain though...they might start, who knows! But they know whats expected of them. Now its not like I am over here working them to the bones. They do their homework, their chores, watch tv, read, get a little playstation in. Normal kids. Oh well...
