It's very interesting to me that people refuse to say something nice about this neighborhood. There is nothing to sugar coat about Hidden Valley and if anyone mistakes my comments as fairytale thinking, then have fun with it all day long! It's just silly to me that there are so many opinions that stem from outside sources whether it be internet or statistical reporting. I will say it again........HIDDEN VALLEY IS NOT FOR EVERYONE! There are some of us who actually like the neighborhood and all that it's location offers and yes I am totally conscious of the fact that there are bad people who share space with us who choose to be good people. And the only thing that comes close to being "fairytale" are some of the street names.....this neighborhood is very real and full of normal, healthy minded individuals who aren't afraid to drive home everyday. Can we just stop with all the negative input, unless you have a personal experience with it then I see no place for it. It's so small minded of others to contribute their fears onto others.

I'm in hidden valley a lot looking at rental properties, and I know a lot of the owners in there. It's just like any other East Charlotte 60's brick ranch neighborhood. Most houses are well kept and show a pride of ownership. About every 10 houses is on that looks a little trashy. I'm sure every 10 houses in ballantyne there is someone that doesn't cut their lawn or has a car on jackstands. Being that you can get a house in there now for $30k I think it's a steal.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Always amazed at what a *great perspective* all these suburban types have about areas of the city they've never spent 5 minutes in... and it always starts with the same story:

"well, it happened to a friend of mine."

spare us

I have been inside of a number of homes in HV doing work. The homes were built back in the 60s 70s and most are well built and good sized A great way to get feel of a neighborhood is to go to the home that is for sale and park your car and get out and take a nice little walk around the block. Do it around 11pm on any friday night. If you dont enjoy the walk it will be a good indication for you not to move there. And by the way if you do this little walk in HV you might need to be wearing some good running shoes.....lol

I live in a nice neighborhood in Concord and have lived in very nice neighborhoods in Northern VA. After 9pm (or dark), if walking the area, I usually carry a stick (not for dogs)....what the hell is your point? Personally, I think a lot of people are afraid of certain areas specifically due to demographic composition and thus their perception of any area not totally white bread is rendered DANGEROUS.

Yo The POINT is the OP asked if it was a good neighborhood...Walking around the area is a very good way to find out if it meets the persons definition of good. For example if groups of people are just riding around the neighborhood that may be good, but if they are "eyeballin" you and maybe have a gun stuck out the window well that could be bad. If it sounds like a shooting range at night that could also be bad..If you ride past a guy who is walking and right after you go by he turns around to look at you that may be bad. If you see the cops making house calls to neighbors often that might be bad. If you hear women screaming saying NO NO NO 2 or 3 times in a week that might be bad..

This really confirms what I stated in previous post!...gun stuck out of the window...a shooting range at night??? Bro-man, me thinks you are full of BS.
