Matthews Citizen Observer Alert - S. Trade St. Closed for Beachfest (2009, house)

S. Trade Street Closed Friday/Saturday for Beach Fest

Please be aware that S. Trade St. will be closed this weekend during BeachFest Matthews. The road closure will take place on the evening of Friday May 1st from 5:30pm until 12:00am. The street will again close on Saturday May 2nd from 9:00am until 12:00am that night. The section of S. Trade St. closed to traffic will be from McDowell St. at Matthews Elementary to the intersection of John St. The recommended detour around the affected area is Fullwood Lane to Matthews Township Parkway (NC 51) to West John St.

Event preparation has already begun, so please exercise extreme caution when driving around the area of Stumptown Park. We are anticipating extended drive times on S. Trade St. throughout Friday, so alternate routes are suggested.

Hey, BS! I have never participated in this but it sounds like fun! Anyone got more info? Have they done this in the past, and others have been - and can tell us something about what types of things will be happenin'? TIA!

Thank you so much! I am thinking w/ this weather (not too hot, no big storms predicted) this may be a great weekend to get out at a festival!

Matthews puts together some really neat events - for the whole family. Maybe others will want to know the schedule, wh/ is on the website that CTRIBUCHER listed. More good info on that website about events . . .
