Can anyone recommend a Mexican bakery in Charlotte? I used to go to one in Monroe but I no longer live in that area and would rather find one in Charlotte that is good. Thanks.

This is a scary place.

The store itself is scary too

I was the designated driver for many of my carless pals. There are times I wished my car was invisible like James Bond's.

Is a "panereceria" or a "pastreceria" (I think that's how they're spelled) a word for a Mexican bakery? I see signs like this all over the place in Concord.

I never knew we had such things as "mexican bakeries" here, LOL! I didn't think the Mexican diet included a lot of pastries, even tho I have recipes for cookies that include cinnamon, chocolate, nuts . . . I think of that type of cuisine having flan, sopapilla, cookies . . . but not known for desserts in general. What am I missing out on? I love pastries, LOL!

My new Peruvian SIL seemed to believe that that's what they are, anyway.

Well, now I am very curious and want to find out what they fix! But not if I have to go somewhere that seems scary.

Close...Panaderias or pasteleria is more like it...
Where exactly do you live? There is Odalys at the beginning of Independence Blvd, also in the Compare Foods in 74. If you live towards Matthews there is a Colombian Bakery that have also a great variety of Pastries, Breads and many other delicious treats.
Good luck!

Drving through Concord on Union Cemetary Road, there's one there, and then as you hit Highway 601 South, there's at least two more.

Not at all. It isn't the best side of town, but it's got a lot of great produce and ethnic foods. The asian markets nearby are great too. It's really not too scary if you're ok with a little culture.

I won't go to the one on Independence though..their meat department smells abysmal.
