HI again,

My husband is in Charlotte this week, "scoping out" areas we think we might like to live. He went to see a house in York, SC and reported back to me that there is a nuclear power plant there. Is that correct??? Is that safe???

Yes, there is. And, yes, it is quite safe; they have about a zillion safety measures in place. There is one on the north end of Charlotte, too...in Mooresville. However, neither one helps with our power bills!!

Yes, there are two here. We have had a few threads on this in the past. Lake Norman exists b/c the area was flooded to create the water mass needed to cool the plant reactor.

Here is a good thread on the nuclear power plants here, and includes a map showing all the nuclear power plants in other regions - wh/ may surprise people. Most of us have been living in close proximity to nuke plants - and never realized it.

Charlotte relocation...scared of nuclear power plants.

Anifani... thanks for the link to the previous thread. Very useful info here. I'm surprise to see how many plants there are everywhere in the US!!!

Ok.. dumb question but... if they are using the water from the lake, is the water in the lake safe/clean?
