I am currently employed as an airplane pilot. I live in Albemarle and fly out of the Concord airport. The company that I work for may soon be going out of business soon.

I plan to start working on my accounting degree later this year and finally get out of the aviation business, as that seems to be a dead end career. I know that the economy is depressed everywhre, but are any jobs around Albemarle or Concord area that anyone knows of?

Any help would be appreciated.

The demise of textile factories hit Albemarle hard. I tell everyone looking at changing careers to consider tech jobs in healthcare . . . but the field is a lot more crowded than even two years ago.

If you aren't heavily vested in that accounting degree, I would look into healthcare and see if there is anything that appeals to you. If you need to go on w/ accounting, I would try to get an internship along the way in a healthcare facility or somehow define yourself as specializing in healthcare finance.

Not really what you were looking for as far as jobs in the meantime, but maybe it will help you get an edge so that future employment is more open.

Thanks for the info. I have not started the accounting degree yet, but plan to do so in the near future. I could easily change my mind if I choose to. I am looking for something that pays well, and is relatively stable.
