In about a year or two I do want to move to Charlotte. I do work in retail and I will be in school. Well, I will be attending the Community College there(CPCC). When I move somewhere I would love to live near a shopping center and on the busline. Like I said before I work in retail and I don't mine working in the mall or a shopping center. I will be seeing if my job do transfer and if the job in Charlotte are hiring. I will be renting(3 bedroom) and looking for a decent school for my daugther. I would hope it is close to the college. Well, If I live on the busline that should not be a problem. My price range is 750-800. I would love to be in a safe area. The reason I am asking for information now, because I want to be prepare and when I do go on sites like forrent.com, etc, I would know what area to look at. I am looking for a place that have a lot to do and I hear a lot of people saying good things about Charlotte. I have learned by moving to Raleigh that it is best to move to a place at lease a year and see do you like it. I don't care that much for Raleigh. I guess some places are not for everybody. There one question: Do you all have shopping areas in Charlotte where you can do everything, like for instance when I stayed Durham I can go to the south square area and can do everything( food shopping, go to Target, Sams clubs, etc. everything is right there and you don't have to go far. Like in raleigh, it is not. You go food shopping in one area then you have to go way across town to go to walmart( stuff is just spread too far out). Do you have any other websites I can go to, so I can get a better pictures of Chalotte. What are the name of the malls there. I want to be prepare this time and I was going to move to Charlotte before Raleigh, But I did not. Thank You for your help.

Carolina Place and South Park are the 2 closest shopping malls. Is it the Uptown CPCC Campus? if so I would say South Park mall would be closest it's an upscale mall with higher end stores, Nordsrom, Neiman Marcus, Tiffany, Crate n Barrel etc. They do have a Target in Uptown close to the campus.

Well, CPCC has about 6 campuses, and all are accessible by bus. The issue of being able to do everything in one place...not really. Charlotte is probably MORE spread out than Raleigh. Try looking at charlotteobserver.com. Not sure if there is a map there, but, you will see that, although there is a lot of shopping and stuff, it is really spread out over a large amount of land. Having a car is pretty much a necessity. Also, not sure if the job market will rebound in a year, but, our unemployment is currently worse than Raleigh's...11.5%. Retail jobs are (currently) hard to come by. Now, I know you said a year from now, but, that is what it is currently. Good Luck!!

(It actually sounds like you need someplace more urban, like Chicago or Philly to meet your needs)
