i really appreciate your help. actually im looking for a very large 3 bdrm 2 bth or preferablly 4 bdrm 2 bath, play ground, pool you can actually swim in (lol). i thought apts would be better with pricing and upkeep. i am recently divorced - and just dont have time or ability to be a caretaker of a home, the maintenance, mowing, etc. besides that, with the new divorce -- credit is an issue and i thought it would be hard to get a house over an apt. im looking to spend no more than 800-850 if at all possible.

I wouldn't worry too much. Most of 'em probably hang around community pools.

Okay, I'll ask around as to which would be the better...safer apartment complexes.
I also suggest you take a look here, on craigslist.....
charlotte apts/housing for rent classifieds - craigslist
You can isolate your search on craigslist by typing in " Kannapolis" ...Or ...'Concord" ...or (whatever area ) at the top left corner, where it says : "Search For ".
You can even select the rent range and bedroom/bathroom specifications you're looking for.
If you find something you like, let me know and I'll check into the complex's reputation.

Anyone hear anything good or bad about Greens of Concord Townhomes, in Concord? I checked out some sites, but could not find any reviews.

From what I understand, that's a good one. I've never lived there, but I hear good things about it. Waiting on a friend of mine to call me back and confirm that it's still a good, safe place.
It's right off Branchview Drive and very close to 85I and 29. There's great restaurant called Longhorns......just minutes from there. Yuuuuuuuummmmy

Just got off the phone with a police officer from Concord and it appears things have taken a step down at the Greens Of Concord
6 calls for Home Robbery, but only one report filed...since January 2008.
For some reason the other five refused to file a report/complaint.
And another incident of a car being broken into.
I'm thinking you may want to pass on this.
It used to have a good rep. That's what I had heard. But looks like things have taken a step down.
You can call the Concord or Kannapolis police stations (non-emergency numbers) yourself and ask about these places. The numbers are easy to get through a google search.
