Anyone have suggestion? What about something around the Arboretum? There are not really boutiques there . . .
Ani, the Paces Commons Apartments on Matthews Township Pkwy would allow them to walk to old downtown Matthews town center for the coffee shop, some restaurants, the library and some unique shops

Yes, it is a very good suggestion. I am thinking from there you will at least get some of what you want.

You are going to be surprised at how many nice areas there are here - even if it is going to be different than where you live now - I think you can find a place to be comfortable. You may have to do some driving to go to some of the areas w/ shops you like, but those apartments and surrounding area will at least give you part of what you want as a base.

Thanks for the pics Mountains. The area seems very cute and cozy, but im afraid I need something a little more urban and city-like. I posted earlier that i thought it would be the matthews area where my bf was working, but now it's looking like it will be in Charlotte, off Tyvola Rd.

Tyvola covers a lot of ground. Do you have a street address or an intersection?

I was afraid Matthews would be too suburban for you. Forgot what you said your budget is? Honestly, you seem like a good fit for NoDa or PLaza Midwood - very close in to uptown and more the lifestyle I think you want.

OK, that's right off of I-77. I would 2nd the suggestion for NoDa, then. Quirky/funky neighborhood with restaurants, bars and art galleries. 5 minutes from uptown. Actually my wife and I want to buy a house there, too. It would be opposite the heavy traffic (as much as possible) for the drive on I-77, too. Or, you could always take surface streets.
