My mom is coming to visit me next week... She loves beads and makes her own jewelry. I would like to take her to a bead store on one of our outings - any recs?

Default Bead Merchants in Waxhaw

How about the Bead Merchants in Waxhaw...
The Bead Merchants, Waxhaw NC 28173 -- MerchantCircle.com

You could make a day of it and browse all the shops, have lunch at Rippingtons - http://www.rippingtonswaxhaw.com/

My sister is also into making her own jewelry and when she visits me in Charlotte she goes to Beadlush (1217 The Plaza - next to Fire Station 8). I've never been inside, but she always seems to find what she's looking for.

There's also On A String Bead Shop (416 Providence Rd - Myers Park). Never been there, but both stores have websites.

Beadlush: Beadlush - Beads Charlotte | Bead Shop Charlotte | Jewelry Classes | Charlotte Jewelry Stores

On A String Bead Shop: On A String Bead Shop - Charlotte, NC - Located in the heart of Myers Park

**Sorry about the URLs not showing up as hyperlinks, I'll try to fix that!

Not sure where you are but if you're close to Concord there is this place
Beads, semi precious gemstones, earwires, sterling slide finding, magnetic clasps (http://www.thebeadladyinconcord.com/bl/ - broken link)
And it's in a really cute area of Concord with other little interesting shops.

I like Jewelology in the Park Terrace area (Woodlawn and Park Road). It's in the shopping center with Jason's Deli, etc.

Smile On A String....

On A String Bead Shop on providence rd. is my personal favorite. It depends on what kind of jewelry you are making, but for really cool different things, this is the hands down winner. The people seem to really know what they are doing- which is a plus.
