There is a new bakery (well, opened Feb. 06) on Elm Lane right next to the Shell Gas Station. Decadent Designs? I hear the owner is from NJ and they have excellent cannoli, eclairs, brownies, cheesecake, etc. Their cakes are to die for. We had one in our office for a birthday. They have some other pastries that they only do around the holidays (pasticciotti, cassata cake) but you can special order them.
They have a German crumb cake that is just like the crumb cake we used to get in Hackensack at B&W bakery. You should go over and try it it's out of this world! About an 1" and a 1/2 of crumb. Little expensive but it's worth every mouthful!
It's about time we got a good bakery.

I agree they should invest their money in better products and learn how to stock a bakery. The selection is ridiculous and terrible. I buy my baked goods mostly at Lowe's ...irt's 100 % better. Coming from NY (living there all my life) they give Jersey a bad name.

Just read in the paper today that Jersey Girl closed up. No wonder.
Try the one on Elm Lane. Their pastry stuff is limited. You can special order some stuff. But their cakes are out of this world.

Did they all close up or just one of the locations?

It said on the door and in the paper yesterday that they were merging with an expanding bakery in PA? The paper yesterday, 7/21, said both locations.

They were in the paper today. They are in the Ballantyne area just past the Bi-Lo in Camfield Corners. There's a gas station, I think, and they are right before that on the right if you are going toward the Y.
What part of Jersey are you from? I grew up in Bergen County and my best friend was from Hackensack, that's how I got to know B&W. My husband's family also used to go to B&W for the crumb cake.

You are right! I used to work at Jersey Girl (that job was such a let down) and nothing was made on site. Everything was shipped in frozen from big companies. Yeech. Anyways, it doesn't matter now, they have closed and moved back up to Philly.
Nova's and Marguerite's are fairly decent bakeries.

There is a small but good butcher in Waxhaw on Providence Road, it is in the same shopping strip as Dream Dinners.

I didn't like his selection. I went in about 2 months ago and the meat seemed old and his sausage that he made on site was horrible. That's my opinion and I've only been in there once. I hate to sound like this, but it in no way compares to the butchers we had in NY or even the Peach Stand in Fort Mill.
