I am looking to move to the area in a few months and would like to know if anyone has any opinion on the Berkshire of Matthews apartments? What is the area like? What are the apartments like? Any information would be appreciated! Thanks!

I know they used to be called "Chambers Ridge" and that they have been there about 20 years. Never heard of any big problems there that I can tell you about, they just aren't new - which some people wouldn't like. They sit just off Independence Blvd behind some retail shops and are about a half mile from I485, so they could be very convenient depending on where you want to go. A drive uptown would be heavy during rush hour on Independence Blvd/74 though, very heavy. But again, they are convenient to retail, the library, and the hospital. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the information. I did see that the buildings were old but they are remodeling. I am more concerned about safety. I am a single female and will be living alone. I am from a small town in South Dakota and crime here is basically non-existant.

Matthews has some crime, but less than a lot of areas around Charlotte. Are they off of Independence Point Parkway?

Was in the area and took these pics today for the OP. Have to say, the apartments and grounds looked wonderful, very neat and clean. It's also a smaller complex which is usually a bit safer than the large ones in Charlotte.

This is what you see as you are leaving the complex, directly across the street.
