What is better about Lake Wylie? (Charlotte, Norman: pros and cons, restaurant, eat)

New to the area and was wondering if lake wylie has any advantages over lake norman. It seems like the water in lake wylie is a weird color and not as big.
As an avid boater, I carefully checked out both lakes when I moved into the area. After spending two full days on both lakes in a friend's 20' bowrider, Lake Wylie was my choice.
Lake Wylie is not as wide and open as Lake Norman, and therefore, it is not subject to the wind as much and is much less turbulent away from the shoreline ( I still can't believe that I spent 30 years on the water's of San Francisco Bay and that this was an issue!). The number of larger craft and high power speedboats on Lake Norman was also a deterent to the type of experienceI was looking for.
IMHO, Lake Wylie is a more sedate experience and, as the previous poster stated, a very scenic lake. The water quality is a subject always up for debate. We and our neighbors all swim in the lake on a consistent basis and so far nobody has contracted any health issues (or started to glow from the output of the nuclear plant). We also eat the fish we catch from the dock and have never suffered any negative results (I will try to attach a photo of my MIL's first fish that she caught last week on her yearly visit from Europe).
I do not know about the wildlife on and around Lake Norman. In our cove we have Heron, muskrat, mallards, geese ( I counted 12 new goslings with their respective parents this week), hawks, huge turtles (scare me more that alligators), Water snakes (sorry to bring that subject up again), and an occasionial fox.
The one negative I have found is that we only have one restaurant (TBones) on the lake and I personally do not care for their food. Drinks on the deck make up for that.
It is a very different experience on each lake and a personal choice as to the pros and cons of each of them.
Yep, less crowded. And if you're on the SC side, cheaper.
