I have a call into the director of public works but thought maybe someone out there may know the intended use of that land. According to the Union County GIS maps it's 100 acres of undeveloped land north of Goldmine Road and just west of Airport Road? We drove by today and saw a small portion is used for garages, storage buildings, county trucks and vehicles. Behind that looked like it may have been a landfill at one time. Does anyone know anything about that property?
I'm not sure there are any plans other than what is there. I can check if you don't get the answers you need from Public Works. I've already tried one connection, they aren't answering their cell. As you say, it's a Friday night, nobody wants to talk business.
Do you have a purpose, or are you just curious?
Thanks so much. We're interested in buying a house not far from there and just doing our due diligence. Been reading the zoning maps for Indian Trail and the surrounding towns. Can't find zoning for that piece of property on any of them. Maybe because it's county owned. Don't want any surprises later on down the road. I know calling on Memorial Day Friday was ill timed so I really appreciate you taking the time to help me.

Dukesmom I'm off to the Mts. tomorrow and then the lake, if I forget to get back to you with an answer and Public Works doesn't return your calls, DM me a reminder and I'll try my source again. No problem, they are a good friend and won't mind answering my question if they can.
Last I heard the school system was going to use this land to build a middle and high school. This was at the beginning of this school year. I've heard the schools were on, then off, then back on again but I have yet to see anything on the schools website.
