My husband proposed to me when I looked my absolute worst. We were home, just finishing a nice meal we had made together...I had on sweats...my hair in a scrunchy (it was the 90's) ;-) and I was washing dishes. He looked at me and said..."I want to spend the rest of my life with you, you are so beautiful" Doesn't sound very romantic does it? However, I think back to that moment as one of the most romantic moments ever. I guess that is true love when someone wants to spend the rest of their life with you when you are looking your worst...LOL. Anyway...whatever you choose it will be a memory to cherish forever.

The danger of asking when other people are listening:
He: Lets get married.
She: Well, who would have us?

Take her up to the mountains near Boone, Blowing Rock. Lots of cool places that will NEVER be torn down, paved over, moved or flattened for an Old Navy/ Petco shopping center. Travel along the Blue Ridge parkway and stop for an overlook or plan ahead and get a trail map. Some very easy hikes along the Blue Ridge Parkway. (My husband proposed to me on top of Grandfather Mtn and we camped down below with hambugers over a campfire. Hands-down best proposal ever.)
Afterwards (I'm assuming proposal), go to one of the local bed & breakfasts and eat there. Or ask a local for a cool little out-of the way, restuarant. I was in college at App so I could never afford any of the swanky romantic spots but I know there are quite a few around there.

For restaurants, I love Blue in uptown Charlotte. But I agree- for a romantic spot, on the lake or in a park is nice too.

Please, please, please....I beg of you....if you're proposing, do not do it in a restaurant.

I agree eman, completely idiotic! I bet he was with his buddies and they all laughed at him and made him feel like a stud, when really all he did was put a big, dark shadow over a pure and beautiful moment that two people will remember until the day they die.
Give Brian a few more years to mature and I'll bet money he feels like a real a-hole for a real long time about this.
