I will be moving to Charlotte in July/August and would love to hear some opinions regarding hospitals in Charlotte and/or surrounding areas. I currently work as a Labor and Delivery nurse at a fairly large teaching hospital in Pittsburgh. Looking for a nice Maternity unit to work for. Any thoughts or experiences (good or bad) from mothers whom delivered, fellow nurses, or physicians would be a wonderful start in my quest for employment.

I will more than likely be living in the Belmont area. I'd like my commute to be less than 30 minutes each way. Thanks in advance and have a good day!!

Charotte Medical Center in uptown was where my kid was born 11 months ago. It was a fabulous maternity experience--and I'm from NYC. This was the best ever. Beautiful, new Levine's children's hospital near completion. I can't say enough!

That's Carolinas Medical Center
And you are right, it is nice!

-Carolinas Medical Center is a hospital system with many locations: http://www.carolinasmedicalcenter.org/body.cfm?id=104
The Blythe Blvd Charlotte campus is only 15 miles from Belmont, and Lincoln Memorial is in that hospital system, 26 miles from Belmont.
- Presbyterian Hospital is also a system with various locations as well, giving you additional options in your job search. They also have a job bank on their website. http://www.presbyterian.org/
- Gaston Memorial is a large facility close to Belmont and they are part of Caromont Health. I know they were looking for part time RNs in Peds, but check their website for other available jobs. Also, their Birthplace is a nice facility: http://caromontbirthplace.org/the-birthplace.htm (broken link)
- Those are really the only ones within your driving distance....and all are great facilities. You have some nice choices. Good luck!

I have had to visit a few branches of CMCC and I have found the employees there very nice and helpful. The OR staff was absolutely the best! They seem to have state of the art facilities. They were kept very clean both inside and out. It seems to be a place that I would be proud to work.
