Anyone know a lot about these areas? Specifically looking for information related to the following:

- Availability of ranches in the $150 - 200k price range, 1800 - 2000 sq. ft.. Realtor.com shows a few that looked great, but just wanted to see if this is common for that area.
- Ability for active senior citizens to get to recreation/shopping without having to use interstates or very busy roads.
- Friendly neighbors/community activity.
- Distance from Charlotte in off hour traffic. My understanding is that it is about twenty minutes to a half hour?

My aunt and uncle have been concentrating their search in the Lake Norman area, as they fell in love with Cornelius and Davidson, but I fear this area is not realistic for them given their requirements as stated above. Someone recommended Tega Cay in a PM to me, and from what I have seen, it looks like it has everything they are looking for.

Any tips/insight would be very much appreciated!

T'was me! I suggested Tega Cay, SC (this is where I live) as I know there are alot of activities/clubs for the younger set, middle set, as well as activities for seniors and active seniors out there. For example there is the Vintage Club (dinner trips/long distance trips, etc.), Bridge Club, Tennis groups, a new group that has just recently gotten together hold performances around the area, etc.. Course this not include water sports, golf, walking trails, summer concerts, fall festival, etc. We also have a volunteer group called Helping Hands that will provide for families/seniors in time of need (such as transportation to doctor appts, meals delivered, etc.).

In regard to Tega Cay you have the original homes that are within their price range (homes are around 30 years old), Or (I belive I provided you with) Calloway Villgae and Stonecrest Villas (both have ranch).

Fort Mill (in Tega Cay we are surrounded by water on one side...and Fort Mill on the other) is another good choice. In fact there is Four Seasons at Gold Hill right down the street from us...that (according to sign out front) is 90 percent full (with only 15 unit left...but there are resell as well). In Fort Mill you will find other ranch homes but most will be the original resell homes (not sure if they are looking for new or old)?

In Tega Cay or Fort Mill we have several grocery stores to choose from, plus we have The Peach Stand (Fort Mill, SC) where they can pick up farmer fresh produce, along with a butcher meat shop.

I seldom use the interstate even when I travel to the Ballantyne area (back roads) in 15 minutes...or SW Charlotte is right down Hwy 160 (in 5 minutes). From Tega Cay I can be in uptown Charlotte in 20 minutes (disclaimer: no commuter traffic or accidents). I can be in Pineville, NC in less than 10 minutes (again back roads), or Rock Hill, SC (again depending where in R.H. 5-10 minutes back roads).

Not sure if this was what your were looking for (or of any help) but feel free to ask any other questions you might have. I am not a realtor but if you need someone for this area (I can highly recommend someone to you)...but I will leave that up to you.

Take care!

Exactly what I wanted to hear, thank you! And sorry for not remembering that it was you who sent the PM

This area really looks great for them. I will have their realtor take them there tomorrow.

Thanks again!

freeof2hskidsatlast (nice name...took me a second figure out though...as I thought you were free of skids??? )

in regard to your question...I suggest you do a search on this site for areas within the Grand Strand....or even start a new post/thread (I am afraid if you leave your question here...it won't get noticed much...since these areas are rather far apart)

Good luck with your search!
