*OP* Welcome to Charlotte. I agree, check out Noda. I have children and unfortunately that area with the amount of space we need is very pricey, but if it were just my hubby and I, that is where I would settle.

Thanks for all the the insights everyone. I am looking to rent as opposed to owning a home. It looks like i have a lot of neighborhood touring to do next time i'm in Charlotte for Business. In just looking online at apartments and neighborhood amenities I think i'm going to take some strolls through Plaza Midwood, NoDa, South End, and Uptown. Hopefully one of those neighborhoods will speak to me and my girlfriend!
