I just tried to order phone and DSL service from Bell South, and they said that DSL was NOT YET AVAILABLE in the area!?!? I was able to get DSL four years ago in the sticks of Indiana...so I am in shock. They said there were "several" areas in Charlotte that did not have DSL yet, but "everyone" will have it sometime in 2008.

So since I cannot live without high-speed internet for more than a few hours what are my options? Roadrunner (I think this is Time Warner cable), satellite -- anything else? Any advice would be appreciated!

Agreed. I have Time Warner now, too, and I love it! I think they have a special for 29.99/month right now.

I have to agree with Time warner cable monopoly in my opinion but the transfer rate is so excellent.

Other option is Verizon Wireless broadband for laptop
