I am transferring to Charlotte (for job), so I am wondering about the neighborhoods in the area, I guess my question is where are the "problem areas" and what not?

I am still new to Charlotte I relocated about 3 months ago We are renting a apt complex in Huntersville north of Charlotte exit 23 off interstate 77 about 35 minutes or so to uptown(downtown) Charlotte.

We really like it here in Huntersville, we just went under contract on a house in Huntersville. The apt complex is called Bexley Commons at Rosedale the website is www.weinsteinproperties.com

Good luck!!

The neighborhoods in what area? You need to tell us what part of town you will be working in and what your budget is so that we can make some suggestions

Okay, I believe Citigroup is located in the University area - so that's a place to start Others here may disagree, but, in my opinion you need to be careful near the University itself. But since you aren't a student you most likely wouldn't want to live there anyway.

I would suggest you stay away from any apartments on WT Harris Blvd, especially south of that road. The whole area looks nice, but south of Harris there are some problem areas that often cause problems for those nice looking apartment complexes. Staying north of the campus toward Harrisburg or Concord are good alternatives with fairly easy commutes back for your job. The area west of campus along Mallard Creek has some nice places too. You should be able to see a lot of apartments in the 700.00 range (one bedrooms). If you need two bedrooms 800.00 might be a bit tough - you'd need more like 900 to 1000. Hopefully other posters will chime in with specific apartment names for you to check out.
Hope this helps
