Default What are these amazing dark purple shrugs I see?

OMG...clealy meant SHRUBS lol

I'm seeing them all over the place. Some are small and wild and some are several feet high and trimmed nicely into boxes. They aren't those red-tipped ones, but are a super dark green and purple/burgundy! Any thoughts? My new neighbors will have 4 kids...so between that and the rotweiler in back of me I'm going to lose it! Time to fill in the holes with some nice bushes!!

Japanese barberry?

There are many types and they all have a different "look." Here is but one. Use google to find more:

Red Leaf Japanese Barberry

FWIW - I have several rows of Loropetalum in my yard, bordering the street, and many people are using it . . . so I agree w/ Native Son - likely may be loropetalum that you are seeing.
