Somehow, Memphis usually does get warmer in summer and cooler in winter than here...not sure why since it's about the same latitude as Charlotte.

A client of mine in B-ham, AL said the forecasted heat index there is 115.
I have been in Phoenix, AZ w/ the temp of 119...I never felt anything like that before.

The funny thing is I just got back from NC last week and the weekend before it poured in Waxhaw. But I did manage to get one day by the pool.

Yeah... it was a bit of a beast in August. I took the train in from Dover and that line only stopped at Broad Street, not Penn Station. I was doing a college internship at the time for an elected official and so I chalked the walk up to part of the experience.

Sorry to have gotten so far off topic!

I do love fall, winter, and spring in Charlotte.

And, there are some summer days where it's very pleasant. I'm talking about the days where you walk outside and can hardly breath days, when you have such a high heat index and humidity.

Does anyone else have wars with their spouse about the temp. inside the house? My husband jokes that penguins could survive in our house at times.

Still getting some gardening in at 6:30 am ... and later in the early evening in the shade. But no way could I cope with yard and garden chores in our summer mid-day heat! And it seems as though the biting bugs are even fiercer when it gets hot and humid. Am I imagining that?

Still ... we mostly can escape by ducking into A/C and enjoying a cold drink of whatever makes you happy. Can the guys and gals in Iraq and Afghanistan do the same? It puts my annoyance with the heat and humidity into perspective when I think of wearing battle gear, carrying equipment, weapons, etc. and not able to anticipate a cold shower and a beer.
