Pumpkin Center which has a Lincolnton mailing address. It's in Lincoln County and has excellent schools. Elementary School= Pumpkin Center, Middle School= North Lincoln and High School= North Lincoln. It is rural setting, 10 minutes to Lincolnton, 15 minutes to Denver, 25 minutes to Hickory and Huntersville and Gastonia and 45 minutes to Charlotte

You may have better luck posting in the Western NC forum.

It will be tough to find a commute under 45 minutes. If I'm not mistaken the only part of the Charlotte area that close are Lincoln county and the northern Gaston County (maybe Ranlo or Dallas). Lincolnton is under 45 minutes away from Hickory. It has a low crime rate and I think the schools are good.

ETA: ssd3 beat me to it He lives in that area and can give you great info if you need it.

Mooresville is another option if you want more suburban. Not sure how far that would be from Hickory. It would be going in the opposite direction for rush hour traffic ,I would think (don't quote me). They have good schools, lots of shopping and places to eat and the lake!!!!!

I thought that too but Google says it's 56 minutes via 77 North to I-40 West or 1 hour and 25 minutes via NC-150 to 321 North. I thought it was shorter though. Maybe someone here knows a better route.

I think depending where in Mooresville he/she would live and where in Hickory he/she would work, they could make it in 45 minutes. I think Mooresville would be OP best bet if looking for more suburban area with all the amenities. It should be an easy ride with not much traffic.

Thanks to everyone. I am relocating from Ohio and I have visited Hickory. It 's okay but my daughter goes to kumon after school and there is none in Hickory, it has really helped her. I would want to live in area close to this zipcode-28117 because of excellent school system or close to lake Norman but really would want to keep commute less than 45minutes. Also how is Denver vs Mooresville?
