I live in south charlotte and for the past few months or a little over a year, I've been smelling this awful odor that smells like crap & store brand potato chips. The smell gets stronger late in the evening until early or mid morning. Does anybody know where this is coming from?

I live in South Charlotte as well, and am pretty sure you are referring to Wal-Marts scattered around the area.

They sell a lot of Pringles.

there's a Lays factory, but it's not by South Charlotte, more west I think, by Arrowood or somewhere around there

Anytime we have heavy humidity, it holds in otherwise unpleasant smells that normally dissipate, so if you are near a wastewater treatment plant (like the one near Carolina Place Mall) or downwind from some plant that puts off an unpleasant odor, or even chicken houses, just expect the smell to linger until the humidity and wind changes.

It's the Lay's chip plant. It really stinks when you go down the street next to the Sonic on S. Tryon.

Yes, it's in SW Charlotte (Steele CreeK). Can you imagine what it smells like inside the building?
