Matthews/Weddington Boundaries?
Hi All,
During my house shopping, I am finding that homes are listed as being in Matthews but they really seem to be part of Weddington. Or vice versa. I just tried to map directions to a house in Weddington, but Yahoo Maps couldn't find the address unless I changed the city to Matthews. Same thing with my GPS.
I'm not sure exactly what I am trying to ask here... maybe the correct question would be: What are the boundaries of Matthews? And Weddington?
Thanks for any info you can offer.

The confusion is because Weddington is in the Matthews postal delivery area, therefore most homes in Weddington are listed as Matthews, NC.
28105 is the Meck. Co. part of Matthews postal district and 28104 is the Union Co. (Weddington included) part.
My Garmin picks up both town addresses when listing my street address. I have been asked my address at various offices around the area and sometimes Weddington is not a valid address, only Matthews will work in their computer location system. Matthews seems to be universally correct, and Weddington is hit or miss.
There are several homes along Matthews-Weddington Road that were not getting their mail delivered because the mail was addressed to Weddington-Matthews Road, Weddington, NC. Same zipcode, and correct house number but the Matthews P.O. decided it was not a correct address and decided to return the mail as undeliverable. I understand that has been corrected and either address is correct.

we have a Matthews zip and live in Wesley Chapel. It's pretty common I think if you live in Weddington or Wesley Chapel to have a Matthews or Waxhaw zip.

Yeah, I run into that a lot. I live in Weddington and it comes up as Matthews quite a bit. Confusing since they are in 2 different counties. I saw a previous thread on the subject will see if I can find it again.

Living in a town that is in two counties can cause other problems. It took a while for me to vote because they couldn't find my Matthews address in their computer system so they insisted I must be in Union county.
Anyway, here is a good site that is sort of a portal to the GIS web sites around Charlotte: Charlotte-Area GIS and Real Estate Tax Information.

The town of Matthews is NOT in two counties - it is in Mecklenburg county. HOWEVER, as previously stated, some folks in areas like Stallings and Weddington get their mail thru the Mattews post office and therefore have a Matthews MAILING address.

My bad. The volunteers running the voting at the library sure seemed to think it was. I am nowhere near the border but my problem is that is some places my street is listed as Laurelwood and in others Laurel Wood. There also seems to be some confusion over whether it is a Drive or a Circle.

The elections folks work off of the postal physical addresses and GIS maps. Many a Mineral Springs resident has been surprised to find out their physical address is actually Waxhaw (since most of them pick up their mail at a post office box in Mineral Springs). Go with your zip code in most cases and you will be correct.
