Anyone got kids starting at LNHS in August?
We are moving from UK and thought it might be nice to try and find out who might be close to us. We will be living off Canvasback Road in Mooresville. Our son will be getting the school bus.

Thanks!

Susan, I wanted to reply and bump your thread up again b/f it gets lost . . . we do have some posters on the forum from that area, but I am assuming they haven't been online to see your post.

Hopefully, someone will see it and reply. Good luck!

I used to live off of Canvasback when I was in High School.

Back then there was no LNHS though, I had to scrap and claw to be admitted to Mooresville Sr. High...

Sorry, bit confused! Why did you scrap and claw to get into Mooresville SR High? (I understand that that probably wasn't the catchment area as we are outside Mooresville city limits) What would the alternative have been? One in the iredell county school system?
Our home is in Lakeshore estates, which I think was one of the first lake subdivisions back in the 60s. Part of the farm is still there. We think it's great to have a reminder of what used to be there, but other residents disagree.

We are a little concerned about the school as we are fairly ordinary people who wear ordinary clothes and drive ordinary cars etc (if you know what I mean)but we were impressed with the guidance dept when we visited, and there looked to be a fair amount of "ordinary" cars in the parking lot. We will have to see.If it doesn't work out for our son then guess we will have to move!

Just hang w/ the natives til you figure out who the unpretentious newcomers are - and avoid anyone who is complaining or shrieking at their kids. There are some really annoying NY types who have moved to that area. (And please - don't anyone tell me that ALL people from Long Island are not jerks - I am fully aware of that - but it seems more are than aren't - MY OPINION).

My family is from that region and you will have no problems breaking the ice w/ the natives . . . as long as you show up at the school and are friendly, you will be fine - and so will your son! Then, you will find other newcomers who are like you - just wanting to make friends, get settled, be part of the community. It is a good place to live - you and your son will soon be settled in and find your lives are very active and busy, I am certain.
