The fastest option is Time Warner Cable's 50/5 service. Windstream's DSL tops out in the 12mbps range.

Anyone using ATT Uverse? I heard it was faster than Windstream but you have to bundle TV when I only want internet.

I'd be surprised if AT&T Uverse was available there. Uverse is only supplied by the indigenous Bell South phone company in this area and the old Bell System (now AT&T) never served Union County. Union was serve by a combination of GTE (now Frontier) in Monroe and small mom & pop independents in the more remote areas. In Waxhaw I believe it was Mid Carolina Telephone -> Alltell -> Windstream. There used to be horrible phone service in S. Union Cnty.

AT&T does offer up a TV deal where it doesn't have its own phone plant, but this is nothing more than DirecTV. (no internet)

Time Warner slows down significantly during peak times, which is very often. At least Windstream is consistent in what they provide and you are not sharing the stream with your neighbors. At least that is how it worked for us.

I have never experienced this in Huntersville. However TWC did a complete rebuild of the Huntersville system about 3-4 years ago when it took over the decrepit Adelphia system. I remember talking to one of the line techs when they were digging up the streets and he said it was state of the art for the time.

I'm on their Docsis 3.0 system and it's very good for internet. On the other hand, I don't think much of their DVRs. I tried to use one of the horrid things when I was at my Mom's house over Thanksgiving and was shocked at how slow and unresponsive it was.

We had a horrible time getting TWC to install for us. We had a new construction house. Windstream was quick and came the day after i called. We get 20 mbps, started out at 12, but when we got wired for the 20 we upgraded and wow! Very fast. 12 wasn't bad either, we stream movies a lot and never had an issue.
