Are there any no-kill animal shelters in Charlotte or nearby? We found another lost doggie...WHY does this happen to me??

We found the owners!!!!! Good job putting a rabies tag and licensing your dog - it works! I'm still interested in shelter info, if anyone knows, for future reference. Thanks!

I have a couple of bricks, a gunny sack, and a lake out back. We are constantly doing genetic experiments. Our latest is seeing if squirrels can adapt to changing environments and grow gills. So far just bubbles, then nothing. I don't think we are ready to graduate to dogs.
Seriously, the Union County Humane Society has a rescue program. The doggies are sheltered by volunteers until a prospective owner comes along. A friend of mine has done this with several dogs.

Fort Mill, SC has a humane society shelter right off I-77 at Hwy 160 exit (exit 85). They have limited room and times so call ahead. They also will not pick up animals.

We got our dog 4 years ago at Petsmart through the Animal Rescue of Charlotte. They told us at that time that it was a no Kill facility.

Cornelius has a temporary no kill shelter, but a perminant one is being built. They are limited in space and are trying to figure out how to handle out of town drop offs. In your case, they might not have had a fee for you, but for the owners.
