Hello, I know there are threads with some info on Fireworks displays for the 4th...but where is everyone going? Which Fireworks display is the best? This will be my first 4th here and where I used to go did fireworks for about 20-30 mins to music and it was pretty cool. I just wanted to see if anyone has favorites.

So far I know of:
1) Red White & Boom
2) Carowinds
3) Knights Stadium
4) Lake Norman (I think I saw that they are going on somewhere up there?)
5) Lowe's Motor Speedway (someone told me they do fireworks but I could not fine much info on it?)

Two years ago we went to Carowinds and it took us 2 hours to get out of the parking lot. They are touting their "best ever" this year so for your first, you may want to try that.

I don't know about the one at Knights Stadium. I live a mile off it but that's not where we're going this year. We'll probably go to a smaller one in Tega Cay since I'm in Fort Mill. I don't think it will take me nearly as long to get out of there, plus there's a band and live music after.

The one uptown is the biggest, and as long as you could find some parking without going into one of the parking garages you wouldn't be stuck in traffic forever because there are so many ways in and out of the uptown area. Look to park along a side street in Elizabeth near CPCC and walk over toward Memorial Stadium, you'd see them easily.

I went to the Whitewater center last year and it was very good. A great place to sit out and enjoy. But it was very loud so I would not recommend it for small children.

Southpark was fun last night. However, I made the big mistake of parking at the mall. We sat in traffice for an hour and 10 minutes just to get from the mall to fairview rd. OUCH!

I hate to complain about a free show, but, they really need at least some people directing traffic getting out of the mall. When you have thousands of people in one small area with no traffic lights and nobody directing traffic, it becomes a safety hazard.

Too funny! I remember going up on our roof of the high-rise we lived in in the Bronx & being able to watch the Macy's fireworks from there. It was pretty cool, you see see them & just about every other fireworks displays going off all around us.

I was in Battery Park for the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration on the 4th. Never again willl I go to a large, crowded display.
