Our family is moving to Waxhaw this month and I'm starting to look into signing my children up for various sports and I'm not sure which group I should be going with? I know there is the WCWAA, and the Waxhaw Athletic Association. Does anyone know what are the differences between the two? Can you join the WCWAA if you live in Waxhaw, or is it strictly for Wesley Chapel, and Weddington children.
Does the Waxhaw AA use the same fields as the WCWAA, or do they have their own? I thought that I saw they used fields in Monroe, would this be correct?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I'm w/ITAA (indian trail athl. assoc) and here 's my .02
WCWAA is the weddington/wesley chapel association. This is different than the waxhaw (prospect) association.
From my limited knowledge of the WCWAA, its all been good. Fields are impeccable, you really get your money's worth. Not sure of waxhaw/prospect though...although they do have nice baseball fields....
WCWAA primarily uses the fields along Hwy 84 between Weddington and Wesley Chapel.
WAA uses several different fields in the Waxhaw area. I've seen them on the fields at Western Union School.
I would guess that WCWAA is the larger of the two organizations.
My children have played for WCWAA and MUFC. I would say WCWAA is more a parent/coach style soccer with very few professional coaches and not many teams in classic soccer. MUFC has all professional coaches and almost all their teams are Classic although they do offer a challenge level operation.
Love it,
love that they have a very organized system, they email practice and game reminders, fields are really nice, dedicated volunteers to make it so great,
most games are at the one field, which is good if you have multiple kids with overlapping games, snack stands,
We've been with WCWAA for 2.5 years with my sons baseball and we love it. All games are played at Optimist Park, with awesome fields that are well lit at night. The park is also equipped with a lightening sensor for safety. With Waxhaw AA, you travel to different fields. We have never played with that organization, but have friends who have, and they are going with WCWAA next year.
Oh and we live in Waxhaw, so it's not exclusive to Weddington, Wesley Chapel residents.
Thank you all for the great info! Boy, coming from out of state I have really found this website to be so helpful.
