30 y/0 single, active, woman - would Charlotte be a good fit?

I am 31 active male.. moved here from DC.. I understand where you come from and what you are asking for.. I moved to DC from NYC and I had the same concerns.. after living in downtown for sometime and moving upto suburbs (coz it was crazy.. I was the only 1 with work in suburbs but living in DC) now I am in charlotte.. its mixed.. well.. it can never be city.. but its got its own charm.. and let me tell ya. u gotta do what the city wants to do.. if u dont wanna change.. then its better to stay in one place itself.. not to be rude or make u feel bad.. what I learnt by moving south from nyc (i'd compare Chicago too the same) is.. folks here in CLT are the nicest.. sweet.. it took me a while to realize they arent after anything you have.. its their true nature to be nice and helping.. Looking for the busy hustle bustle.. the ways of nyc or dc or chicago when you come here.. then you just wont enjoy it.. so my 2 cents is.. to be flexible and enjoy the town as it is..

Now.. I also completely understand the fact that a single active person may get bored in a dead town.. but charlotte is no way dead.. there are lot of things to do.. I just signed up for a scrabble group last week.. I have to go to a Wednesday Dinner.. a Flemingo Friday .. I wish I had more time in Charlotte

What I remember as walkable and what's walkable down here are two different things. My hometown of Kearny is almost completely walkable. Jersey City is almost completely walkable. Old Bridge, mostly walkable. Down here, not so walkable. A lot of spots in Concord, especially where I live, aren't walkable. A lot of places around Charlotte don't appear to be walkable, at least what I've seen. It's not like I've seen a ton so I won't say either way, but what I've seen and walkability...they don't mix well.

Correct. The purpose of the OPs post was to compare walkability to Lincoln Park in Chicago. With that comparison, you really aren't going to find it in any southern city except maybe New Orleans or possibly Charleston. If the OP moved here I don't want them to be mislead.

I appreciate the aspect that New Orleans is walkable.. but would you walk there?

I was thinking about this again and I think most places have some sort of walkability, but what would concern me is the places that you CANNOT walk to anything. My neighborhood is really off the beaten path. I can the neighborhood which has amenities and I can walk to a great park, but I CANNOT walk to ANY retail. Beatties Ford is an unwalkable road.

Good input from all - thank you! I definitely understand the part about staying put if you compare everything to where you are from. Chicago is great but too expensive, cold, busy, etc. I am looking for a smaller city with friendly people! Honestly, the vast majority of people I have met here in the South are so friendly!
