New Art/Social Club forming around CLT area
So through a series of events (as most of my ideas usually form), I've searched and searched for a craft/handmade/art club in NC (Cabarrus County/CLT area specifically) I was having a really difficult time finding one. One event of a formation of a craft club I found on CCC's website was post dated - nearly a year ago around August 2008.
Being from the MD/DC area there were always plenty of different clubs that you could find and join just to share tips and ideas or meet someone new.
Perhaps there are just none with websites online. In any case I decided to start one, and open it up to everyone in the immediate and surrounding CLT area. Here are the logistics:
Who: Everyone from crafters and hobbyists to professionals are welcome. Interested people should have a background in one or more of the following: painting, sculpting, wood-making, photography, graphic design, sewing, needlepoint, cross-stitch, knitting, fashion design, mixed media artists, and general crafters.
What: The first meeting of the art club (still to be named)
Where: Starbucks in Concord, NC @ 7741 Gateway Lane NW Concord, North Carolina 28027 (if anyone needs directions I can supply them if you email me @ amy.artois[at]live.com
When: Sunday July 19th @ 3pm (this btw is tentative, if I find that another time works out better for people I may switch it but I figure most people are getting out of church/other activities by then and its right before dinner) This first meeting will probably be only about 60-90 minutes long.
Why: Ultimately the goal of this club and my mission statement is for local artists to support other local artists, for crafters, hobbyists and professionals a-like to get feedback and constructive criticism from their peers and people in other artsy fields, the sharing of information, showcasing of work, networking and promotional events and maybe get some inspiration from another field you never thought you would have gotten inspiration from before. If nothing else, it's just a fun venue for all the artsy people in the immediate and surrounding Charlotte area to unite!
I'd like to take this first meeting opportunity to introduce ourselves and what we do, showcase what we're currently working on, share a few tips and tricks, name the club and discuss future meetings and events.
For more information, questions and/or comments you can of course leave a comment here or feel free to email me at my address listed above.
Look forward to seeing you all!
