Does Charlotte Need Hispanic Mortgage Reps?
I'm From New Jersey And The Mortgage Business Here Is Very Slow With The Sub-prime Market Going Under. I'm Considering Moving To North Carolina. Are There To Many Mortgage Reps In Charlotte Or Will I Have A Hard Time And Starve To Death The Way Things Are Here In Jersey And Florida? Could Anybody Give Me Some Feedback On What Area I Can Do Mortgage Business. I Have 23 Years Of Knowledge. Thanks! Tino

Try Phoenix they are always looking for Spanish lenders. In fact that's all they are looking for. Check all the builder websites in Phoenix that's all you'll see.

I would think if they NEED a spanish lender they do not speak english.. if they dont speak english aren't citizens or at a minimum arent making an effort to be an american (look up the US immigration website and not what you need to be able to prove to be a us citizen).. So, suggest you go to mexico where they speak spanish.. I bet you get even MORE people that need a spanish speaking lender in Mexico..

That's not a helpful answer. Every case is different. I know many people who have probably more money than you'll ever dream of, BUT HAVE TROUBLE SPEAKING ENGLISH. They are also trying to learn the language, but English is one of the harder languagues to learn and if you don't learn it when your young, it makes it even harder.
Also, if you have a lender who can communicate effectively, will explain things better for the borrower WHICH IN TURN WILL HAVE A BETTER KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT THEIR GETTING INTO.
Please leave your bigotry and closed minded assumptions at the login screen...thanks
To the OP, there are probably many spanish people here who would love to have your services. If you speak and get to know the locals, and run your business ethically, you should do fine.

I agree. This is stilla free country which was founded by enslaving one race and killing another and we have no official language. People can speak Martian if they want for all I care. Read the First Amendment.

I'd like to know how you can measure "making an effort"? How do you know they are not? Just your own biased rules of how the "effort" needs to look like or sound like?
Another thing, not speaking English does not equal not being a citizen. And being a citizen doesn't automatically mean you SPEAK English. You might be able to read and write it though, much better than some who can "speak".
And I agree with the other poster. To stay on topic, and so that this doesn't turn into something it is not meant to be -Your answer was not helpful.

I am not in NC so I do not know whether there is a market there or not. I assume there is. In any event, if you're bilingual (which you seem to be) and know your business, two languages are better than one as far as I am concerned. You'll be able to capture even more clients than the monolingual folks and, if word of mouth is favorable..... you'd be good to go.
Unfortunately though, I think the real estate/mortgage broker field's prognosis isn't very good right now anywhere. Maybe you can pan out into something else.
I read something the other day about the foreclosure rate in NC. The state may not have gone through the "boom" like we did here in Florida and other states but NC is not sitting pretty either.
Good luck.

If your question was "Does Charlotte need Mortgage reps?" then I think you would be more likely to receive a useful answer. The OP may not have asked for bigotry, but he did ask for segregation based on being Hispanic. Segregation is illegal in our country. The term is most frequently used to highlight caucasian Americans having it better than non-caucasians, but any time there is segregation, there is opportunity for bigotry.
I do not encourage bigotry by any means, but I also abhor the hyphenation of America. Either you are an American or you are not. If the country you came from was Latin America, Africa, or Spain, England, France and the rest of Europe - if you are here for good, you should be an American - plain and simple.
So, to answer the OPs question - does Charlotte need Mortgage reps? I'd think if you're good at your job, you'll succeed here with all the banking opportunities in the Charlotte area. If you are looking to cater to only Hispanics ... I'd think your chances for success would go down significantly in Charlotte.

Sheets. This was your first post and I hope you are for real. I responded to you, thinking along those lines.
Not everybody here seems to appreciate sincerity, however, so good luck to you.
