Because when the perspective employer contacts the current employer for a reference the sh%# will hit the fan. Not a good idea to lie to a perspective employer and not a good way for the current employer to find out his employee is planning on leaving.

Thanks for all the ideas. There was no way I was going to lie and use a friend's or relative's address. As stated in my post in my cover letter I put in there that I'm relocating at my expense and that I would be available throughout the hiring process with proper notification. As many of you had posted either way somone will ask about the address and wouldn't want to be caught in a lie. Not an option for me.
