Hi All,

I need to find some not-so-common ingredients to make fresh mozzarella at home:

- Unhomogenized whole milk
- Liquid rennet

I heard that unhomogenized whole milk can be found at health food stores. I called Earthfare and they said they didn't carry it. Rennet is at cheese stores??? Anyone bought these items locally???

I need citric acid also but hear this is at regular grocery stores. Anyone know what isle that would usually be in?

Thanks!

Well I got what I needed. I stopped by an Earthfare after running an errand today and what do you know, they HAD non-homogenized milk. They also had rennet. I wonder why the associate I talked to at the South Park Earthfare quikly told me they didn't have that kind of milk. It seems like the staff at Earthfares are hit or miss. I had to look up the kind of milk labeled as "creamline" on my phone to verify if it was non-homogenized or not. The associate I talked to couldn't tell me.

To be fare, other associates I've talked to were very knowledegable.

I would love to hear exactly how you make it. It is something that I would like to try myself. And where exactly did you find the citric acid in the supermarket?
Also, what brand was the milk? Are all creamline milks OK to use?

There's a place in Ballantyne Village that pulls mozzarella tableside called the Village Bistro. I haven't tried it, but I've heard it's quite tasty.
