Best comeback Neighborhood in Charlotte
I'm searching for a neighborhood in Charlotte that has recently revitalized or currently undergoing a renaissance? Where are homeowners fixing up old houses and new local businesses thriving? In spite of the tough economy, what are the older neighborhoods on the rise?

We're #8 on your list of 7 other cities from here to China that you're investigating. Let me ask you a question. On what basis did you make this selection of 8 cities? The spread of cities is across the whole U.S. except for the west coast. Just interested.

NoDa, South End, Wesley Heights, etc. There are lots of neighborhoods that are in the "revitalization" process here in CLT.

I don't know the name of the neighborhood, but between Parkwood & N. Davidson streets is getting quiet a few rebuilds, etc. Still some affordable places to be had, but definitely on the way up!

Recently Revitalized:
NoDa
Plaza Midwood
Morningside Village (perhaps this is in the next category, as it is not yet completed.)
Local businesses are thriving
Undergoing a Renaissance:
Merry Oaks
Eastway Park
Sheffield Park
Local businesses are not thriving yet
Next in line for Renaissance:
Grier Heights
Everyone on this forum will argue about the last note, but you should consider that the area of Grier Heights is surrounded by Elizabeth, Cotswold and countless medical buildings. It is a pocket of poverty surrounded on all sides by wealth. The patterns of Charlotte development indicate that this area will eventually gentrify. It will certainly take ten plus years though.

Looks like we have someone on board that knows how to research and form an opinion.
Nice post. Keep up the good work and maybe we can dance together some day.

What she said
However, given the current recession I'd have to revise that timetable for Grier Heights to more like 15-20 years.

I have met many talented men that believed they could lead any partner successfully in a dance, and I have proven them wrong. The only person that has ever been able to move me across a dance floor without incident was a Marine with incredible skills in swing dancing. He was only successful because he never let my feet touch the floor. I will dance with you, and you will regret it.
