Edible Art makes great cakes too. They are located on Selwyn just inside Route 4...

If I may cosign on use of Rosalie at Simple Occasions... my husband and I had her cater our wedding last November. Unfortunately we didn't have her make our cakes, but the meatballs she made were fabulous! She's excellent to work with, and I'm sure her cakes are delicious!

Awesome!

Rosalie is great to work with and I will use her in the future (and no, I don't get any kind of bonus/commission for saying that - just giving credit where it's due!).

The Southern Gourmet on Monroe rd. has a chocolate coconut cake that I got for a friends birthday and it was super duper yummy.
Iv'e had peach cobbler there also thought was great!
They buy local for those who care.

Call me simple, but I like Harris Teeter cakes. I've also been to Nona's Bakery (university area) and they have WONDERFUL cakes as well.

I was very pleasantly surprised by a Super Target cake recently. It was good!

It's too late for this Saturday, but I also know of a fabulous lady who makes them out of her home.

The Bakery Shoppe in Huntersville makes killer red velvet and german chocolate cakes.

Thanks
You could drive 70 miles South to Spartanburg to the closest Publix. That's what I did last weekend, and I also bought groceries. Harris Teeter's cakes don't compared to Publix AT ALL!!

I'd recommend Fresh Market and Earth Fare's.

Aladdin's Eatery in Stallings/Matthews has some AWESOME cakes. They have a big dessert case with lots of layered cakes and cheesecakes. I went there tonight and had a coconut cake and my wife had rocky road cheesecake...and their Lebanese baklava is awesome too
