I found these items in Compare Foods in Gastonia.

Frying peppers

Herr's potato chips

Quaker cornmeal (in the canister)

Also, Compare carries the large containers of Badia spices that Pathmark carries.

I sure was and I started to come on here and tell you all how I solved the problem, LOL. But I didn't so . . . maybe this will bring a smile to your face.

Hubby was out of town when I posted that I couldn't find my Quaker Cornmeal. So when he called me, I was telling him about my day and no luck w/ the Quaker Cornmeal. He was driving in Ohio to the airport to fly home.

When he got to Charlotte that evening, he told me he had a surprise for me. He opened his suitcase and there was a canister of Quaker Cornmeal, Hee Hee. He had stopped by a grocery store he had seen off the road while driving to the airport!!!

That was one of the most amusing "gifts" he has ever given me!!!!

ROFL!!!

Ani, I got the funniest looks when I said canister in Ingles & Food Lion. In Ingles they apologized & said that they would attempt to get it.

I was after the cornbread & mush recipes that are on the canister.

I used to get A&W Cream Soda in Kansas but have not looked here. Is it only the diet you can't find - or the brand? I love cream soda but haven't even attempted to find any here in years. When I moved back South, I just stuck to my iced tea and coke, lol. Now you have me craving some cream soda. I don't like aspartame - wish I could find diet drinks made w/ saccharine.

I can get the recipes for you, but sadly, the one for cornbread on this canister is NOT my traditional cornbread recipe that I got off Quaker cornmeal 20 years ago!!!!! And for some crazy reason, even tho I have used that recipe since moving here (of course) I cannot find it! I have looked online but the recipes I find are not quite the old one (even tho they say they are).

I will be glad to share what I have found with you, tho - and I can copy the one for mush off the box.

Thanks, Ani, I appreciate it, but I grabbed a canister when I saw it at Compare Foods.

I know what you mean about the cornbread recipe. I just like it for when I want cornbread that's less sweet than Jiffy.

Honestly, I've never eaten mush. I make it & refrigerate it to make fried mush.
