Assuming I am correct, doesn't the Concealed Carry class require you to bring along and qualify with your own sidearm/weapon? If so, do you allow handguns purchased on Private Transfer (ie no purchase permit) in your class and on the range? My Springfield Armory 1911A1 Mil-Spec (have since done some work to it) was purchased in this manner and is legally registered to me. My main reason for wanting my full CCW license is two-fold: Open carry in Charlotte either ends in harassment by police/citizenry or arrest, and the limit of 3 Purchase Permits at a time really rubs me the wrong way, and according to friends with CCW licenses, once you have it, you use that as your Purchase Permit and don't have to keep going back to the Sheriff's Office every 3 handguns you buy and paying the $5 per permit fee. PM me if you'd care to answer these question in email. Looking forward to accurate responses.

I'm jealous. I want a Springfield Armory TRP in Stainless, badly.

I'm curious as to how you think a range or anyone would know whether or not a gun was purchased with a Sheriff's permission slip or not. Who's to say you bought it out of state...or before you moved to NC...or your dad gave it to you...or you had a CCL previously and bought it (and since let your CCL expire)?

I got my CWP with Stark's Training Institute, Inc. We started the classes at Hyatt's Gun Shop but the class got so large we had to relocate. Extra pistols were transported to the new location for student use. Anyway, guns were provided for those that didn't bring their own. So it isn't neccessary to bring your own weapon in all cases.

There are not many places you can conceal carry a hand legally anyway.

You really can't carry a hand gun concealed to many places legally, almost a waste of time, let mine expire.

Lets see no public gathering's, no paid events, nowhere alcohol is consumed. I guess that leaves you with the grocery store and in your car.

Let's see-- no paid events, no public gatherings, nowhere alcohol is consumed, no government property, and most stores i.e. wal-mart have signs banning concealed handguns. What does that leave you with. . .
