Cotswold area
This area has been highly recommended to me. My question is, I know very little about Charlotte, well maybe some, because I know pretty much areas to stay away and out of, but I'm confused.
Cotswold seems to be surrounded by many of the roads, I hear quite a bit of crime about. Is this just one small area that happened to stay good while surrounding areas went bad. I know Cotswold is only 2 point something miles from the mall that's possibly getting tore down due to out of control crime and theft.
It makes me wonder, how can one tiny area stay safe, yet surrounding it there are problems. Is there a chance these problems will spill over to this area on down the road? Or am I confused?
Again, I'm not familiar with Charlotte all that much.
Any info on this area would be most appreciated, I don't want to buy there, just to find out in 3 or 4 years I'm going to have to move again, and possibly take a loss on a property I purchase.
Thanks

Hi Mrs P Don't know exactly what roads you've been hearing around Cotswald have high crime??? Randolph Rd? Providence Rd? Sharon Rd? Perhaps you are thinking it has a high crime area because Sharon Amity runs thru Cotswald? Let me put your mind at ease, that end of Sharon Amity is not the part you have to worry about at all. The parts of Sharon Amity I would avoid are all on the other side of Independence Blvd, nowhere near Cotswald. In my opinion, you would never lose money on a house you buy in Cotswald. Just be sure the area you are looking at is really Cotswald and not Oakhurst or Grier Heights - which are two areas some people try to pass off as being in Cotswald. Hope this helps

Yep, that's what I was hearing Sharon Amity. The road I was looking at is called Churchill downs. It's that in the area, or is it Oakhurts or Grier Hts?
And it's called Cotswald not Cotswold right? Sheesh, I can't even spell the place right. ha ha.

Cotswold, right. Oh Mrs P, I'm in a tight spot here - I do not want to disappoint you, but I want to be honest okay? The area is still technically Cotswold, but it is very near the fringe. I don't know of any horrible problems there, I just know for me personally it is too close to several apartment complexes that would be a concern TO ME. Each person has there own comfort level, however, so you should visit at daytime and night to see what you think okay?

Well, like I said my number one priority in moving from Concord to Charlotte,
so what you said, is kinda what I thought...near the fringes. I'll probably just forget looking in that area, it wasn't going to be that close to my work anyway.
It's just real hard when you are one income, and trying to buy something affordable yet safe. There's lots of townhouses/condos in Ft. Mill and SW Charlotte, but my son said he'd kill me if I even *thought* about buying a "Portrait Home".
I'm not ready to buy till July or so anyway, but wanted to get a feel for some neighborhoods, so this board, and people like you help a lot.
Thanks !

THAT is an excellent idea CharlotteAgent - I second the motion!
Just FYI, her job is moving down to Westinghouse Blvd. this summer and she wants to get closer to work. I'm thinking a condo in Steele Creek or Fort Mill, what do you think?
