I like most relocation threads, I'm not a hater on them, since I understand where they are coming from...But could we maybe get a sticky at the top of the forum with links to some relocation threads or FAQs? I doubt it will stop some of the more less-thought out relocation OPs, but maybe it could help a little...?

I know this is what CD is for, and I'm not saying to lock/delete these types of threads, but maybe a sticky would benefit our community? I would DM a mod, but I was wondering what some of the other regs think...

Well, in years past, we have done that, but it didn't really seem to curb repetitive inquiries. I think that could be b/c most folks feel their situations are individual and they often have questions that are very specific, such as . . . if I buy in xx, what elementary school . . . and is that elementary school high ranking, etc.- or would a magnet school be a better choice, etc . . .

So it didn't seem to make much difference as far as inquiries to have stickies w/ general info. Not that I think it is a bad idea! But just going on what effect it had in the past.

Here's the thread Sunny had started awhile back based on I think the Denver forum, but there's no way to bump it since it's a locked thread:

Index of Charlotte - Links to Key Relocation Topics & Cities/Communities! & Events

The thread really covers all the basics from neighborhoods, commuting, jobs, schools, etc...

When I first started looking and stumbled upon this forum, I did not know how to do a search. I am completely computer illiterate. I am sure I asked the same questions that were asked and answered a thousand times on here. Now that I have been on here a while I can see where some of the frustration comes from but I'm sure a sticky probably won't help.

I've mentioned before that I have modded well known forum from 06-09. Well thought out stickys do a lot of good, and can make the forum as a whole more readable. I think Ani had a good point, and if they tried them before and did not work, well, I can't really say much about that. However, your contention that people that come here don't know how to use the internet holds little water atm, and will hold less as we go forward. I think if anything, people are search-happy now. Googling anything and everything.
