Default West Blvd

Hi is anyone familiar with the area of West Blvd that is right off of I-277? If so what is it like? Is it crowded, are there lots of offices or retail shops there? Is it more residential? I will be moving to Charlotte in August. I am considering a job that has an office on West Blvd. I have visited Charlotte a few times but I have never been to that area. Thanks

West Blvd. is gentrifying inside of I-77, but is still pretty poor as you head toward Billy Graham. It's conveniently located... lotsa food and entertainment at southend. I don't know that I'd consider the location to be a deal breaker or a deal maker... focus on the job and your potential duties/compensation and let that make the decision.

It's an okay area to work in - just don't live there or be there much at night.

I rented a room from someone right off of West and Merriman for a few months earlier this year (When I first relocated). While it can look pretty sketchy when you drive around, I never had any issues. I rented from a single female who seemed to enjoy the neighborhood a lot. It's just a few minutes to Southend and close to the highway.

If you drive around the neighborhoods there are some very nice homes there and I would consider it an up and coming area. I'm talking houses you'd see on a HGTV makeover...but a few houses down there will be a shabby empty house.

So if you're young and don't have a family you could live there and be just fine....If you have a wife and 3 kids you might not want to live there.
