I live in a townhome community. Yesterday upon returning from work, a couple of neighbors were discussing this infestation of some of the biggest wasps I have ever seen. I went out on my deck and they are huge...I mean HUGE wasps flying around everywhere!!!! I also noticed in the common areas behind our units a ton of burrows where apparently these things are living. They are everywhere (has to be at least 20 of burrows.) It looks like a mine field. I cannot step out behind my home to grill or sit on my deck without these thing flying all around me. I absolutely hate bees, wasps, hornets, flies..any bug for that matter ( I might actually have an irrational fear of them). I sent an email to my HOA and it does not appear my HOA will do anything about it. They say they are Cicada Killer Wasps (notice the word killer?) and it's a naturally occuring thing and they do not harm you. I stated to them that they were not there last year and they need to get someone out there. Has anyone else ever seen these thing before? What can I do? Any suggestions on getting the HOA to do something. I really cannot go outside! They told me to buy some insecticide. I am not going near these things. Anyone got a bee suit??

They're harmless and you don't need a bee suit. There's another thread about them! They're Cicada Killer Wasps and they aren't in the least bit concerned with you!! LOL.....I've been to your house and what you're dealing with is wasps in your yard as well as your neighbors but flying back and forth. I've treated several yards belonging to CD members with good success.

I do the same thing...The other day I jumped out of my car and ran halfway down the block due to a dragon fly entering the passanger side window. I looked like a complete ass! Even my wife laughed at me

Dragon flies don't bother me. Those gigantic flying wasp/bee things do

All I have to say is that I am sooo glad that I am not the only one running around my yard with arms flying and jumping out of my car because of a bug.
